Passivation
Passivation of stainless steel is used to restore the corrosion-protective oxide layer after machining or other detrimental processes. The passivation is preceded by a pickling treatment to remove any foreign metal particles from the surface. In contrast to the pickling process, passivation does not remove any metal from the surface.
